SEOUL, May 16 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korean food conglomerate CJ Cheiljedang Corp. plans to develop a range of Korean street foods as new products and release them in foreign markets.
The company announced on Monday that it will develop six Korean street foods under the Bibigo brand and launch them in major countries across North America, Europe, and Asia.
CJ Cheiljedang will introduce Bibigo Tteokbokki as its inaugural product, commencing full-scale exports to the U.S., Britain, France, Japan, and Vietnam from next month.
To cater to local consumers’ preferences and convenience, the new tteokbokki will be available as a shelf-stable product in both cup and pouch formats.
CJ Cheiljedang will market hotdogs, gimmari (crispy seaweed noodle rolls), and refrigerated tteokbokki as Bibigo brand products in foreign markets starting in August.
In March, the food giant successfully launched refrigerated gimbap in Japan, with sales exceeding 200,000 units within the first month of its release.
