SEOUL, Oct. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — CJ Logistics said Wednesday it will take part in a state-led research initiative to develop humanoid robots equipped with dexterous robotic hands, aiming to transform logistics operations and secure a technological edge in the fast-evolving sector.

The project is part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s “K-Humanoid Alliance,” which seeks to create robots capable of handling tasks with the precision of a human hand. Unlike factory automation, which excels at repetitive tasks, logistics operations require machines that can process a wide range of goods varying in size, material and shape.

The program will run through 2028 with a budget of 5.1 billion won ($3.7 million), including 4.1 billion won in government funding. AIDIN Robotics will lead the project, joined by CJ Logistics, the Korea Electronics Technology Institute and Sungkyunkwan University.

Under the plan, AIDIN Robotics, KETI and Sungkyunkwan will develop the “AIDIN-Hand,” a humanoid robotic hand, while CJ Logistics will test and validate the technology in its nationwide logistics network.

The company said the project could enable robots to perform more precise tasks, from sorting to packaging, and accelerate commercialization of advanced humanoids in the logistics field.

“By participating in this national project, we aim to further refine the technology and push it toward real-world deployment,” a CJ Logistics official said.
