SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Korea Bizwire)On August 12, CJ Games announced that it is planning to merge with CJ Netmarble.

In a board of directors meeting, it was decided that CJ Netmarble would be spun off from CJ E&M and merge with CJ Games effective on October 1. On the 26th, in addition, they will change the corporate name into a new one, “Netmarble Corp.”

“We expect significant synergies from the merger and improve the competitive edge in the world market,” a CJ Netmarble official said. As Netmarble Corp. will have more than 2,000 employees, many of whom are talented software developers, it is expected to lead the global game market.

The company is planning to move to a new building as part of the merging process. “We move to a new building to make a better workplace and accelerate synergies,” CJ Netmarble CEO Kwon Young-sig said. “Netmarble Corp. will make its best effort to lead the global game market,” he added.

With a plan to launch about ten games in the second half of 2014, the company is optimistic about the future as its mobile games including ‘Taming Monsters’ and ‘Modoo Marble’ have gained huge popularity in the Chinese and Thai game markets.
