BORYEONG, Jun. 4 (Korea Bizwire)The Boryeong Coal Museum located in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province will reopen on June 14 after 11 months of renovations to improve facilities.

The museum opened in 1995 as the first coal museum in South Korea and attracted more than 200,000 visitors annually.

However, the facility improvement project has been carried out since July of last year as many facilities are not in line with the demand for tourism.

The exhibition facilities are divided into two-story internal exhibition halls and outdoor exhibition halls.

A new special exhibition room has been set up in the underground exhibition hall. Visitors have to take a 400-meter experience elevator down to get to the special exhibition hall.

Large-scale mining equipment is on display at the outdoor exhibition hall, and there is an experience center where visitors can enjoy a coal briquette-making experience.
