SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — Model houses using metaverse technology are emerging as a new trend in the South Korean construction industry, as part of efforts to reduce the cost needed to build and operate real model houses as well as to reach a wider customer base without physical limits.
Lotte Engineering & Construction Co., for example, rolled out a metaverse model house service in collaboration with property technology firm Zigbang.
This service allows users to control their own avatar in a metaverse-based virtual model house, and explore every corner of the house and residential complex.
By realizing the overall apartment complex in a three-dimensional manner, the service provides a 360-degree bird’s eye view and landscape view.
In addition, users also can check time-based changes in the landscape, which looks different by day and night.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. also launched a virtual experience model house service called Meta Gallery using a game engine.
The service, based on the Unity engine for game development, enables users to look around a house in a virtual space, just like controlling a character in a game.
DL E&c Co. recently formed a business agreement with telecom operator KT Corp. to establish a metaverse ecosystem.
