SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Korea Bizwire)Three years into the pandemic, the home appliances makers are witnessing a higher number of people fixing home appliances by themselves as they gain more interest in sanitation and want to maintain home appliances on their own without the help of professional technicians.

LG Electronics Inc.’s new Whisen Tower air conditioner allows consumers to open up the lid themselves and clean the fans inside.

In the past, contaminants inside the air conditioner had to be cleaned by calling a technician or professional cleaners.

Samsung Electronics Co. also has been introducing a series of windless air conditioners since 2020 that allow users to open up the front lid without having to use any special equipment to clean the inner fans.

The water dispenser and bidet industry have also turned to ‘self-maintenance’ following the coronavirus outbreak by shipping replaceable filters to consumers every 6 to 12 months and offering discounts on monthly rental fees.

They have also introduced a ‘one-touch’ system to replace filters with ease.
