SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Korea Bizwire)K-pop rookie NewJeans released a new single titled “OMG” on Monday, but its music video is stirring up controversy.

In the music video with a length of six minutes and 33 seconds, the members of the girl group lose their memories and talk about themselves at the table of a psychiatric hospital.

The controversy was ignited by the post-credit video following the ending credits.

In a Twitter-like SNS, some posted a comment saying “Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable with the theme of the music video? Isn’t it enough to show just our face and dance in the idol music video?”

In response, NewJeans’ Minji, who wore a doctor’s gown, said, “Let’s go to the hospital room.”

Some critics and online commentators pointed out that it was like depicting an online hater as someone with a mental problem.

In contrast, music critic Kim Young-dae said, “If something gives universal pleasure to less enthusiastic listeners, while making fans feel a pride in the artists, as well as having unexpected pleasure and surprise, you can say that’s excellent art and music.”
