SEOUL, Oct. 20 (Korea Bizwire)Convenience store items now can be delivered to pensions, a type of Korean accommodation similar to a bed & breakfast, in a fast and convenient manner by drones.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety on Wednesday held a demonstration event for a convenience store drone delivery service in Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province and announced that it will commercialize the drone delivery service using address-based drone delivery stations.

For the private sector, the address-based drone delivery service will be offered through drone company Pablo Air Co.’s Allivery app.

Convenience store items will be delivered by drones to about 20 delivery service stations located in a pension-clustered area.

It took about 1 minute and 40 seconds for a drone to deliver convenience store items by road to a pension 2.9 kilometers away from the convenience store.

Drone delivery is more than three times faster than vehicle delivery via road.

Unlike ordinary road name addresses that refer to the entrance of a building, drone delivery station addresses are used to identify areas suitable for drone landing.
