Convenience Store’s 24-hour Delivery Service Savors Rising Popularity

SEOUL, June 18 (Korea Bizwire)A South Korean convenience store’s 24-hour delivery service, covering the wee hours of the morning, is becoming popular among customers.

GS25, a major convenience store chain, announced on Wednesday that it compared the volume of orders between stores running a 24-hour delivery service and the ones offering a delivery service only from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

This comparison showed that the number and aggregate value of orders received at stores offering 24-hour delivery service were 166 percent and 217 percent higher than at stores open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., indicating that the 24-hour delivery service had strong popularity among customers.

In particular, delivery service orders placed between midnight and 5 a.m. turned out to have accounted for 24.3 percent of daily order volume.

The most popular items ordered during the wee hours of the morning included instant cup noodles, accompaniment dishes and snack foods.

In collaboration with Yogiyo, a South Korean food delivery service app, GS25 has been providing the 24-hour delivery service at 27 convenience stores across the country since June 8.

The convenience store chain plans to expand the number of stores offering the 24-hour delivery service up to around 200 by the end of this month.
