SEOUL, July 1 (Korea Bizwire)Package discounts offered at convenience store chains are evolving as brands try to one up one another.

Alongside with the common 1+1 or 2+1 deals, in which customers can get one more for free if they purchase one or two of the same product, convenience store brands are coming up with 1+4 or 1+2 deals.

E-Mart 24 will offer a 1+4 deal for two types of protective masks between July 1 and 7.

Consumers can get five packs for the price of a single package (2 masks each), technically buying each mask for only 150 won.

7-Eleven plans to offer 1+2 deals for some 77 products including beverages, processed food, and sanitary products between July 7 and 31.

CU will introduce 3+2 deals for July, in which consumers can get two more for buying three products, and apply the ‘10,000 won (US$8.83) for four cans’ deal not only for beer, but also for coffee, offering discounts for some 1,500 products.

“Most of our products now come with a 1+1 or 2+1 deal, which makes it harder to attract customers. That is why we have come up with better deals,” said an industry official.
