SEOUL, Sept. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — A growing number of Koreans are buying COVID-19 self-test kits at local convenience stores following the jump in the number of infections over Chuseok holiday.
Between Sept. 23 and 27, immediately following Chuseok holiday, sales of COVID-19 test kits at GS25 outlets rose by 48.3 percent compared to the previous month.
CU saw test kit sales rise by 27 percent and 7-Eleven by 41.1 percent. 7-Eleven stores in residential areas, in particular, saw test kit sales soar by 75.4 percent.
The spike in sales is likely the result of the soaring number of infections over the holidays, prompting consumers to buy test kits at the nearest convenience store.
Test kits sold at convenience stores offer test results in more or less 10 minutes. They are, however, less accurate than other tests.
