The data concerning the level of economic contributions made by the South Korean copyright industries showed that the industries played a bigger role than the health and welfare industry or the IT industry, accounting for 4.38 percent of the economy.

In 2015 alone, the core copyright industries generated around 156.7 trillion won in sales, employing over 890,000 people, with both net sales and job creation up from the previous year.

However, due to the struggling manufacturing industry, the interdependent copyright industries, which have a close link with manufacturing, saw their role in the South Korean economy shrink from 8.67 percent to 8.09 percent over the same period.
