SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — The Corona Sunsets Festival, an international beach festival organized by the world’s biggest beer maker, AB InBev, is coming to Korea for the first time, with the event scheduled to be held at Yangyang’s Surfyy Beach later this month.

The 2017 Corona Sunsets Festival in Korea is set to take place on 26th and 27th of August, preceded by Sunset Week, which will be held for a week beginning on August 19.

In an effort to boost the festival’s success, the Gangwon provincial government will sign a business agreement on Wednesday with Yangyang Country, Surfyy Beach and the Oriental Brewery Company.

Organized by AB InBev, a Belgium-based company that boasts over 200 liquor brands including Corona, Cass, Stella Artois, Budweiser and Hoegaarden, which account for nearly 20 percent of all beer sales in the world, the international festival has been held in 12 countries including the U.K., Italy, Mexico and Japan, with South Korea being the latest country to join.

Surfyy Beach in Yangyang, where the international beer maker’s festival will be held, has emerged as one of the trendiest beaches in South Korea for surfers in recent years.

Designated as the country’s very first surfing-friendly beach, the exotic atmosphere created by the combination of the afterglow of sunsets and western-looking surroundings has drawn beachgoers from across from the nation.

Local officials are hopeful the star-studded lineup for the beach-themed music festival will leave a great impression of the region on those in their 20s and 30s.

“East Coast beaches aren’t just a holiday beach destination but now have to rise to the task of meeting various needs of the public. The exotic atmosphere of the Corona Sunsets Festival combined with the beautiful beaches in Yangyang will present young people with unforgettable beach memories in Gangwon Province,” said Choi Moon-soon, the governor of Gangwon Province.
