SEOUL, Sept. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Brides and grooms won’t have to pay to cancel their reservation if a wedding hall shuts down due to the coronavirus, the antitrust regulator said Thursday.
The Fair Trade Commission announced a new bill that amends the standard on consumer dispute settlement, particularly concerning the wedding industry.
Cancellation charges are exempted if a wedding hall shuts down due to the coronavirus or if the region where the hall is located or the customer’s area of residence is declared as a special disaster area.
In addition, cancellation charges can be reduced if any form of assembly is restricted on the day of the wedding or a pandemic alert prevents couples from getting married.
Cancellation charges can be exempted by up to 40 percent if level 2 social distancing measures apply to wedding halls.
