SEOUL, July 8 (Korea Bizwire)The most frequently used data in the two years since the launch of the public financial data open service was company-related information, a top financial regulator said Thursday.

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) said Thursday that a total of 87 application program interfaces (APIs) and more than 1.2 billion data records were opened during the period from the start of the public financial data service until the end of June of this year.

Starting in June 2020, public institutions under the umbrella of the Financial Services Commission and related special corporations such as the Korea Exchange and the Financial Services Association opened their public financial data in an open API format through the public data portal on a step-by-step basis.

The most frequently used API was corporate financial information, with 29.9 million inquiries, good for 45.7 percent of the total.

Other frequently used APIs included basic company information, stock issuance information and short-term financial securities issuance information.

The most frequently requested data was basic company information, followed by corporate financial information, stock price information and stock dividend information.

The FSC noted that financial information was used primarily for company analysis or research purposes, while company information, market price information and dividend information were used for web services or app development.
