Couples Introduce Their Partner to Friends Because They Want Their Relationship Assessed: Survey

SEOUL, Apr. 17 (Korea Bizwire)A recent study has revealed that unmarried couples typically introduce their partner to their friends because they want their relationship to be assessed.

Duo Info Corp., a South Korean matchmaking company, released a survey on 364 single men and women on Tuesday. It said 26.9 percent of whom said they wanted to introduce their partner to their friends ‘to have their relationship assessed.’

Another 24.5 percent said they wanted their friends to know they were in a relationship, while 20.3 percent said they wanted to ‘show off.’

Among women, 15.2 percent said they thought of their partner as a potential husband, while only 6 percent of men gave a similar response.

Among all respondents, 30.2 percent were concerned about what their friends would think of their partner, while 23.9 percent said they were concerned about how their partner would react when being introduced.

Among men, 31.3 percent were concerned about how their partner would react when they introduced them to their friends, while 33.3 percent of women said they were more concerned about the reaction of their friends.

At 22.3 percent, almost a quarter of the respondents said they didn’t want to introduce their partner to friends who talk about their embarrassing past, followed by those who know about past relationships (16.2 percent) and those who are unfaithful in their own relationships (15.4 percent).
