Crime Thriller Spin-Off Gets Off to Strong Start

SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Korea Bizwire) – “Bad Guys: City of Evil,” the spin-off of the popular series “Bad Guys,” makes a fresh entry on a weekly TV program chart by securing the fifth spot, data showed Wednesday.

The 16-episode weekend series, premiered on Dec. 16 on OCN, scored 227.8 on the Content Power Index (CPI) for Dec. 11-17. The strong start can be attributed largely to the dedicated fan base its original series aired in 2014 had built up and the starring of the renowned actor Park Joong-hoon who makes his first appearance in 23 years on the small screen.

The original action-crime thriller, consisting of 11 episodes, hit a chord especially with middle-age male viewers by delivering a convincing and thrilling story coupled with excellent action scenes.

The suspenseful, fast-moving drama focuses on the reckless adventure in which the “good guys” led by prosecutor Woo Je-moon, played by Park, go to any lengths to get evil criminals.

The index, created by CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea, measures the level of popularity and influence on consumer behavior of all entertainment TV programs aired on major territorial networks and cable channels during prime time.
