SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Korea Bizwire)Samsung Electronics Co. has introduced a variety of popular dessert brands, favored by individuals in their 20s and 30s, to its in-house cafeterias as a morale-boosting initiative for its employees.

Since July, the company has been providing renowned donuts from well-known dessert brand Cafe Knotted, operated by local restaurant startup Good Food For Good (GFFG), at in-house cafeterias at its domestic business sites.

Popular donuts from Cafe Knotted, which have gained immense popularity among young people, have been delighting the employees’ taste buds.

Moreover, the in-house cafeterias have recently introduced signature dishes from renowned local restaurants, including Samwon Garden Restaurant, which was included in the Michelin Guide Seoul 2023, as menu options.

Given the unique characteristics of Samsung’s business sites in Suwon, Giheung, and Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province, employees face challenges in traveling far distances. As a result, they heavily rely on the in-house cafeterias.

Consequently, there is a need to cater to their diverse tastes by offering a range of menu selections.

According to Samsung’s sustainability management report, the number of employees working at its local business sites was 117,929 last year.

With the exception of the Samsung Seocho complex in southern Seoul, where nearby restaurants are easily accessible, the majority of employees in other locations depend on the convenience of in-house cafeterias.

Notably, Samsung does not charge its employees for using these in-house cafeterias. The company provides all three meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — free of charge as part of its employee welfare initiatives.
