IMSIL, April 14 (Korea Bizwire) —The 38th Euigyeon Cultural Festival and Imsil NPetStar, a cultural festival for pets and their owners, are scheduled to take place from May 5 to May 7. This festival has been held in Osu Euigyeon Park, Imsil-gun, Jeollabuk-do since 1982 to honor the Osu dog’s spirit, who saved his owner from a fire while he was drunk.
Osu derives its name from the Chinese characters “O,” meaning dog, and “Su,” meaning tree. Legend has it that a resident of this neighborhood was saved from a fire by his loyal dog, who doused him with water. Sadly, the dog perished in the flames, and in honor of its sacrifice, the owner buried its body and placed a stick in its place. Over time, a tree grew from that spot, and the area became known as Osu, after the Chinese characters for dog and tree. Ultimately, the name became the name of the village.
Imsil NPetStar will present a national pet fashion show showcasing various pet fashions and personalities, a pet talk show called “Ask Me Anything,” and a pet fair offering diverse pet products, along with several pet experience events.
