SEOUL, March 2 (Korea Bizwire) — The number of daily active users (DAU) for U.S.-based Roblox, a platform of user-created games and a metaverse leader, shot up to a one-year high this month in South Korea.
According to the data by mobile big data platform IGAWorks, Roblox saw its DAU reach 422,378 in the February 1 to 20 period, up 14.3 percent from a month ago.
On the basis of the first twenty days of each month, Roblox’s DAU continued an upward trend, recovering to the 400,000 level for the first time since February 2021 (457,090).
The primary factors behind the strong recovery of Roblox DAU include the ever-rising interest in the metaverse and the creation of the “Squad Game” set on Roblox in the latter half of last year.
Naver’s metaverse platform Zepeto saw its DAU stand at 72,233 in the February 1 to 20 period, down 0.1 percent from a month ago. Zepeto’s DAU remains low, equivalent to only 17.1 percent of that of Roblox.
The ratio of Zepeto’s DAU to Roblox’s DAU slid from 20.7 percent in December 2021 to 19.6 percent in January and 17.1 percent in February.
