SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Korea Bizwire) – Daum Communications announced on August 19 that it would launch a service to search ingredients in beauty products for the first time.
Joining with a firm providing an app service, Hwa Hae, which has a huge database of 8,400 chemicals in cosmetic products, the Daum portal site created the browsing service with which consumers can search the ingredients. The company said that this would be the first instance for a portal site to utilize a database from a mobile app.
When the user types in the name of a chemical in the search engine, the Daum portal site will show her how much safe (or unsafe) it is and how it works on each type of skin. It also provides information on hazardous materials in beauty products.
“A closer look of the label can help shoppers avoid theses dangerous chemicals, but actually it is quite hard for them to remember all those chemicals. It means that it is not that easy to memorize the effect of those chemicals on our body,” Jeong So-yeon, a manager in Daum Communications, said. “The search service will provide shoppers with easy access to ingredient information, helping them to become a wiser consumer,” she added.
