SEOUL, Sep. 19 (Korea Bizwire) – Daum Communications announced on September 17 that it would launch a spam telephone number search service partnering with KTCS.
KTCS, developer of a mobile app WhoWho, which provides users with information on spam phone calls, has already offered its huge database to the Korean portal site last month. The Android app analyzes more than one billion telephone numbers a month and let app users know which number is a spam call.
Not only the Android app users but also the website users now can search for information on spams. When the Internet user types in “searching for spam numbers” or “searching for spam calls” in the Daum search window, the service will show information on spam calls such as how many times those calls have been reported within three months, the reason why they have been reported as a spam and who called them.
“Many people have been bothered by spam calls but there was no service which allows them to know which number is a spam call,” Jeong So-yeon, a manager in the data planning team of Daum Communications said. “Now both mobile users as well as desktop users can make use of the service,” she added.
Earlier than launching the service, the Daum portal site started to offer two search services: a service to supply Internet users with songs played on the radio on the spot and the other service to give the exact information searchers want to know right away.
