SEOUL, Aug. 22 (Korea Bizwire)It is expected to meet decorated buses with the main characters of the famous Korean cartoon series “Tayo the Little Bus” moving its eyes from side to side.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 20th that the mayor of Seoul, Park Won-soon, asked a division in charge of the project to find a solution in order to make the eyes of Tayo on the front of the bus move.

“We’ve asked Iconix, which invented the Tayo character, to review technical problems of the methods,” an official in the division said. “We are not sure when it is realized,” he added.

The Seoul government originally planned to run the bus from March 26 to the end of April. However, it has gained huge popularity especially among children, which makes Seoul extend the operation until the end of this year. As of August, about 100 Tayos greet passengers.

Mayor Park also ordered the project team to check whether it is possible to run Seoul Subway Line 2 from this October after painting it with Larva characters in a Korean cartoon show which are popular among both children and adults.

“Discussions with Seoul Metro which operates subways from Line 1 to Line 4, are under way,” an official said. “Nothing detailed has been decided yet, but it is expected that the decorated subway with Larva characters is coming soon,” he added.

Besides, Mr. Park also directed the project team to discern whether new ideas such as taxis decorated with Pororo characters or a street characterized by cat-shaped shoes could be realized.
