Demand for Supercars Surges in South Korea

SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Korea Bizwire)Sales of supercars that cost more than 200 million won (US$168,000) spiked last year.

Italian supercar maker Ferrari sold 357 cars in South Korea last year, which was 68.4 percent more than the previous year (212 cars), according to the data by CarIsYou Data Research Center.

Bentley sales also rose from 424 cars in 2020 to 554 last year, jumping by 30 percent. It also saw a 32.9 percent sales increase in the previous year.

Other supercar brands are also seeing their sales increase in the South Korean market.

Luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce sold 236 cars last year, up 24.9 percent on year, while Lamborghini sold 366 cars last year, an increase of 10.9 percent from 2020. Aston Martin also saw a sales increase from 42 cars in 2020 to 55 cars last year.

Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari and Bentley have all seen sales increase over the past two years.
