Divorced Men and Women Still Interested in Potential Spouse’s Looks: Survey

SEOUL, March 1 (Korea Bizwire)A spouse’s looks are important to divorced men and women, for different reasons, a poll showed Tuesday.

Matchmaking agency Only You conducted a survey of 528 divorced men and women, in which 36.4 percent of male respondents cared about their spouse’s looks because it helped them “maintain the relationship.”

This answer was followed by other responses including “it reflects my own social status” (25 percent), “it reflects the inner self of the person” (17.1 percent) and “it earns recognition from my acquaintances” (13.2 percent).

In contrast, 33.3 percent of female respondents said how their spouses look “helps win recognition from their acquaintances.”

This was followed by other responses including “it helps with my self-esteem” (27.3 percent), “it helps me maintain the relationship” (18.2 percent) and “it reflects the inner self of the person” (13.2 percent).

Compared with their first marriage, both male and female respondents had similar standards when it came to their spouse’s looks (57.2 percent of men, 47.4 percent of women).

This was followed by other responses, including “my standards have become slightly stricter” (18.9 percent of men, 25.4 percent of women).

Only a few respondents said they would “lower their standards” (4.6 percent of men, 4.8 percent of women).
