SEOUL, June 9 (Korea Bizwire)Doosan Enerbility Co., a major South Korean plant builder, said Monday it has secured a 900 billion-won (US$664 million) contract to build a combined cycle power plant in Vietnam by 2028.

Doosan Enerbility has formed a consortium with local plant engineering firm PECC2 to construct the 1,155-megawatt power plant for Vietnam’s state-run PetroVietnam (PVN) in Can Tho, located 180 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the company said in a press release.

The O Mon 4 plant is expected to bolster electricity supply in Can Tho and other southern regions of the Southeast Asian country, it said.

“We will focus on securing additional power plant contracts in Vietnam, as the government plans to develop combined cycle power facilities with a total capacity of 37.4 gigawatts (GW) by 2030,” the company said.

With the latest order, Doosan Enerbility has won five combined cycle power plant projects worth a combined 4.3 trillion won so far this year.
