Drivers Say Car Seats for Pets are Most Essential

SEOUL, Nov. 14 (Korea Bizwire)Car seats for pets have been chosen as the most essential product for going on a drive with your pet.

K Car, a South Korean used-car seller, conducted a survey of 439 male and female adults via Facebook in which 39.2 percent of respondents picked car seats for pets as the most essential product for going on a drive with a pet.

Pet car seats, also known as booster seats, are fixed to the car seat to prevent pets from getting injured while riding in the car.

Current legislation bans drivers from carrying their pets while driving, and it is safer to install the car seat for pets in the back seat.

Waterproof, contaminant-proof seat covers ranked second with 26.4 percent of the vote. These covers prevent contaminants remaining on an animals paws or excrement from ruining the car seats.

Safety belts for pets, connected to a harness for protection, came in third after collecting 24.8 percent of the votes. Volvo, a major automobile manufacturer, offers dog harnesses as an option on all models.

Asked about what items needed to be developed for driving with pets in the future, 39.5 percent voted for a safety device that can ensure safe driving without harnesses or safety belts, followed by large windows designed to accommodate a pet’s height for a more enjoyable outdoor-watching experience (27.9 percent), and anti-car sickness pills for pets (17.1 percent).

“The automobile industry wants to make an appeal to pet owners by developing various options and devices for pets, and use them for marketing,” said K Car CEO Chung In-kuk.
