SEOUL, Dec. 2 (Korea Bizwire) – Local cargo delivery company CJ Korea Express has recently teamed up with Dongguk University to develop drones for its distribution centers.
The drones will have the ability to learn different routes, allowing them to fly around the facility autonomously without human control. Their main role will be to check inventory information such as expiration dates and cargo types, and they’ll be able to film and then transfer images to a main computer.
According to CJ, the implementation of drones will drastically reduce the time devoted to inventory management, while also offering a convenient option for checking information on cargo located on higher shelves.
A pilot project involving the drones will take place sometime in the first half of 2017.
