SANCHEONG, Jan. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — Police succeeded in rescuing a missing elderly person with dementia using drones and search dogs.
The elderly person in their 80s who lives in Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province went missing after going out to undergo medical treatment at a hospital last Sunday morning.
The individual’s family was unable to find them, as the lost person did not have a smartphone or a tracking sensor.
After receiving a report from the lost person’s daughter on Sunday night, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency carried out search operations but couldn’t find the elderly person.
Starting from Monday morning, the police carried out an intensive search using a drone team and search dogs.
After about one hour of intensive searching, a drone recognized the shape of a person in a bush about three meters below a bridge. The police instantly sent search dogs to the site and found and brought the elderly individual to their family.
