SEOUL, May 27 (Korea Bizwire) – Dyson launched its WashG1 floor cleaning appliance in South Korea on May 27, introducing a suction-free device capable of wet cleaning and removing debris using water.

At a launch event held at the Boffi showroom in Seoul’s Gangnam District, Dyson’s wireless vacuum cleaner engineering lead, Asaph Ooi, provided a live demonstration of the new product.

The WashG1 marks Dyson’s first foray into floor cleaning optimized wet vacuum cleaners. Equipped with a 1-liter water tank, it can clean up to 290 square meters of floor space on a single fill.

Two rotating rollers dispense water through 26 nozzles, dislodging stains, dirt, debris, and hair without the need for suction.

“Relying on suction causes pollutants to accumulate inside the machine, gradually reducing performance and enabling bacterial growth that can produce unpleasant odors,” explained Ooi.

He added, “This product can wet clean and remove debris without suction. Additionally, having two rollers provides a double scrubbing action, greatly enhancing cleaning power compared to traditional wet vacuums.”

The water spray intensity can be adjusted across three settings – low, medium, and high – depending on the type and severity of debris. A separate maximum “Max” mode unleashes maximum water flow to tackle stubborn, dried-on stains.

For long-set floor stains, Ooi recommended using the Max mode. For pet pawprints, he suggested level 3, while crumbs or sand could be handled at level 2.

“The ‘Edge Cleaning’ feature allows cleaning right up to walls, and the low-profile, adjustable cleaner head can reach under furniture with an 80-degree swivel,” Ooi emphasized.

The Wash G1 incorporates Dyson’s proprietary separation system, enabling pollutants and soiled water to be discarded without direct contact.

A scraper separates dirty water from the rollers, while an auxiliary brush bar with nylon bristles separates dust and debris for disposal.

After cleaning, an automatic flush mode rinses the internal pipework, and the roller brushes can be washed to maintain a hygienic condition.

The water tank and wastewater chambers feature enlarged openings for easy maintenance and cleaning.

Weighing 4.8kg, the Dyson WashG1 has a 4-hour charge time and a maximum 35-minute operating time per charge.

The product is available through Dyson’s official website and other channels.
