SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Korea Bizwire)With the market for e-commerce continuing to grow rapidly, delivery services offered by online shopping platforms are also evolving quickly.

Delivery, the last step of the e-commerce experience, has come to greatly affect customer satisfaction levels, which is why many online platforms are adopting the promise of same-day delivery.

According to industry insiders, e-commerce giant Gmarket has launched a same-day delivery service that allows customers to designate a time slot of their choice for deliveries of products from supermarket chains like GS Fresh and Lotte Super.

An array of goods can be delivered on the same day including fresh foods, processed food products, frozen foods, household items, fashion goods, digital devices and even pet-related merchandise.

Among domestic addresses, 95 percent are eligible for same-day delivery.

Competitor Coupang’s “rocket” delivery service, which has products reaching customers the next day, saw 1 billion accumulated deliveries just four years after its launch.

Over 3.5 million types of products can be bought on Coupang using the “rocket” service.

Yet more e-commerce startups are trying to cash in on the delivery fad. Market Kurly is an online shopping website that delivers products to customers’ doorsteps the very next day before 7 a.m. for orders placed before 11 p.m.

South Korean conglomerate Daesang’s “Jung One E Shop” launched a delivery service last year that sends kimchi and other side dishes straight to the airport for those exiting the country.

On the day of one’s departure, individuals can pick up freshly made food products at the airport.

One industry source said that customer satisfaction in the delivery process of an e-commerce transaction is vital because it determines the overall satisfaction level of online shopping. “That is why delivery service is becoming quicker and more convenient,” said the source.
