SEOUL, Apr. 30 (Korea Bizwire) — Ediya Coffee, South Korea’s third-largest coffee franchise by sales, said Tuesday it will adopt the Taiwanese QR payment method TWQR in its domestic outlets starting next month.
It is the first time for a Korean coffee franchise to introduce the TWQR system for the convenience of Taiwanese tourists, the company said in a statement.
TWQR allows Taiwanese people to scan their TWQR code for payments at Ediya stores in Korea without exchanging currencies or downloading separate apps.
Ediya said it will adopt a variety of global payment services to attract a growing number of foreign travelers following years of COVID-19 pandemic.
Established in 2001, Ediya Coffee is a homegrown, lower-priced coffee franchise that operates around 3,000 stores in Asia’s fourth-biggest economy.
