SEOUL, Jan. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Ediya Co., South Korea’s fourth-largest coffee franchise by sales, said Friday it has signed a master franchise deal with a Lao company to enter the Southeast Asian country this year.
Ediya plans to open its first outlet in Laos in June under the partnership with Grandview Property Sole Co., a subsidiary of leading local private conglomerate Kolao Group, the company said in a press release.
Under the deal, the two companies will also cooperate in opening Ediya stores in Cambodia and Myanmar where Grandview Property has business operations in distribution and construction sectors, it said.
Laos is the third country to which Ediya is advancing to do its coffee chain business after opening its first overseas outlet in Guam in December 2023 and its second in Malaysia in June 2024.
A master franchise deal allows the master franchisee to not only open franchise units itself in a specified area, but also sub-franchise them to third parties.
Established in 2001, Ediya is a homegrown, lower-priced coffee franchise that operates around 2,800 stores in Asia’s fourth-biggest economy.
