SEOUL, May 25 (Korea Bizwire) – In an effort to adapt to mobile shopping trends, Emart revealed Monday that it will start offering O2O (online-to-offline) services on May 26. The retailer will offer mobile product information, scan-delivery service, and a pilot operation of location-based service at its Seongsu branch.

Emart’s mobile product information allows customers to access information about its products – including reviews and discount coupons – by inputting a QR code on the product’s price tag to a mobile application.

Emart plans to start its new service with its private-label products, and expand to other merchandise.

Its scan-deliver service will allow customers to scan the barcodes of larger and heavier products, such as furniture, and have them delivered to their homes.

The location-based pilot services such as GeoFence and Beacon will be available at Emart’s Seongsu branch. GeoFence offers customers (only those who agree to the terms of service) exclusive promotional or discount coupon information at nearby stores.

Beacon also provides promotional information as well as shopping guides, such as ‘how to pick the best watermelon’ or ‘experts’ choice of wine’.

The number of Emart app users has exceeded 3.8 million, and the company expects to surpass 5 million by year-end.
