SEOUL, March 7 (Korea Bizwire) — Emart24, the convenience store arm of South Korean discount retailer Emart Inc., made waves last year when it offered expensive luxury goods such as diamonds, Mercedes-Benzes, and BMWs.
Now, the company is back with more exotic offerings, including high-end karaoke machines and BMW Mini Coopers.
Emart24 said Monday it has partnered with TJ Media, a company specializing in karaoke equipment, to sell high-end song boxes that can be used at home and in pensions.
The karaoke box includes a banjo, monitor, high-powered amplifier, and speakers, and will be available until the end of the month.
Additionally, Emart24 has teamed up with Carby, an imported car online sales platform, to offer the 2023 BMW Mini Cooper 3/5 Door until March 14.
Last year, Emart24 sold 3-carat diamonds, Mercedes-Benzes, and BMWs as Lunar New Year’s gifts, and an actual BMW 5 Series was even sold.
According to Emart24, a 30-year-old resident of Seoul purchased a BMW 520i MSP vehicle at a store in January of this year, and received discounts from purchasing through a convenience store.
Emart24 and Carby offer discounts of up to 1 million won (US$769) for Mercedes-Benz and 12 million won for BMW.
Customers who book a car through E-Mart 24 will receive an additional 500,000 won discount, as well as tinting, black boxes, a Hi-Pass expressway toll card, and souvenirs.
