SEOUL, June 13 (Korea Bizwire) – The Ministry of Public Safety and Security’s Central Fire Service has designated 1,317 ambulances across Korea specifically for use during heatwaves, according to a report released on Sunday.
These ‘heatwave ambulances’ will have nine different first aid kits, including ice vests, saline solution, intravenous injection set, and oral electrolyte solution.
In order to prepare for emergency situations where none of the special ambulances are available, 1,105 pumper trucks across the nation will also be equipped with heatwave first aid kits.
Over the past five years, complications from heatwaves have resulted in 47 fatalities, while. 1,056 individuals suffered from heat-related health issues last year alone.
Representatives from the Central Fire Service emphasized that it is important to avoid outdoor activities when a heatwave alert is issued. “If you find a someone suffering from heat stroke, move them to a cool place as quickly as you can and call 119,” said a government official.
