SEOUL, May 27 (Korea Bizwire)An artificial intelligence (AI)-based emergency medical system that enables the transfer of patient data and first-aid activities within ambulances on the basis of 5G telecommunication technologies will be introduced in field operations.

The Yonsei University Medical Center developed the system after two years of collaboration with 20 other institutions.

The new system was developed to help emergency patients during the process from first-aid activities within ambulances to the transport to hospitals.

The system enables the collection of information on emergency patients, including voice, image and bio-signals in real time within ambulances, while allowing the transfer of such information to a cloud-based integrated emergency medical analysis platform through a 5G network.

Based on such information, the platform can present the best treatment options and select the most suitable hospital depending on the severity of the condition of the patient.

The situation within the ambulance can be transferred in a video format to the medical staff at emergency medical centers in real time.

The system will be operated on a trial basis for 36 ambulances and nine emergency medical centers in the districts of Seodaemun, Mapo and Eungpyeong in Seoul and Goyang in Gyeonggi Province.
