SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Korea Bizwire)Everland, the amusement park operating unit of Samsung C&T Corp., is incorporating cutting-edge information technology to amusement facilities and customer service to provide smart access to visitors.

Samsung C&T announced on Sunday the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Friends program for Everland in collaboration with Samsung Electronics.

The program allows visitors access to key content and information about various sections of the park by placing a smartphone on Samsung Galaxy Friends experience kits installed throughout the facility.

Kits installed near souvenir shops, for instance, will display a list of popular items being sold there along with prices, showcase videos, and other related information, while kits at the entrance or information centers will unlock special themes that can be used to decorate the user’s smartphone.

In addition, registering an Everland entry ticket in a smartphone app will give access to information about various events and performances in the park, as well as the waiting time for rides using a Samsung Galaxy Watch.

To promote the new initiative, Everland is giving out gifts and coupons from November 17 to 25.

Visitors can take part in the ‘Samsung Galaxy Friends Treasure Hunt’ to win prizes, and use the Samsung Galaxy Watch’s step counter to win various coupons every time they walk 3,000 steps.

The park also replaced paper tickets with mobile apps that visitors can use to purchase entry tickets, reserve rides, and access various services in the park.

Everland’s ‘Shooting Ghost,’ a popular ride built in collaboration with South Korean IT SMEs, attracted more than 400,000 visitors in the three months since it first opened in July.

Shooting Ghost uses information technology to create virtual ghosts that players can shoot at with vibrating guns as they move along on a ride.

“IT Panda World, Robot Virtual Reality(VR), Gyro VR, and other various IT systems are now in place,” a source from Everland said.

“Incorporating cutting-edge information technology will help the park maximize the fun factor while providing fresh new experiences to the visitors,” the source added.
