SEOUL, July 10 (Korea Bizwire) – Taeil, a former member of the K-pop boy group NCT, was sentenced by a court to 3 1/2 years in prison on Thursday after being convicted of sexual offense.
The Seoul Central District Court handed down the sentence to the 31-year-old Taeil and ordered his immediate detention. Two accomplices in his crime were also given the same sentences and detained.
The three men were indicted without detention in March on charges of sexually assaulting a drunken foreign woman in Seoul in June last year.
The court also ordered them to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program, saying the nature of their crime is very bad because the victim was drunk and unable to resist at that time.
Prosecutors demanded a seven-year prison term for them in the previous court hearing.
Taeil was expelled from NCT in August last year after being questioned by police over the sexual assault allegations.
