SEOUL, Dec. 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Starbucks Korea held a completion ceremony Monday for the 2nd ‘Starbucks Restart Program,’ a training program designed to support the comeback of failed small business owners.
For a group of failed small business owners who had no option but to shut down their businesses, Starbucks offered training twice in August and October, with a focus on coffee trends, customer service, beverage quality, sanitary management and store profit management
The trainees received 16 hours of theoretical and practical training. Ten out of 27 trainees who completed the first round of course already obtained employment as baristas at Starbucks.
Among the 72 trainees who completed the second round of course, 18 are scheduled to work as baristas at Starbucks stores in the greater Seoul area.
This program cleared the way for the 28 failed small business owners to open a second chapter in their life as baristas.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to extend financial support of up to 1 million won (US$900) to those who meet the requirements to receive the benefits of a career change among the 28 failed small business owners who obtained a barista position at Starbucks.
