GOCHANG, Dec.14 (Korea Bizwire) – Gochang County in Jeonbuk Province, which is designated as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is setting in motion a plan to help feed winter birds.
Gochang-gun will distribute 500 kilograms of rice near Donglim Lake, in collaboration with the Jeonbuk Bird Protection Society.
Every year, between 200,000 and 300,000 spectacled teals (ducks) visit Donglim Lake, creating a beautiful scene.
The local government is planning to develop facilities such as a bird watching deck, park, and an eco park to entertain visitors.
The governor of Gochang expressed his enthusiasm in transforming the area into a safe environment for winter birds.
The local government has been building birdhouses in the fields for winter birds, and providing them with food after it signed the ‘Biological Diversity Management Agreement’.
