As Gangneung’s water shortage persists, Lotte Chilsung Beverage has announced it will provide residents with groundwater from the Daegwallyeong region. The natural bedrock water, drawn from 200 meters underground in Gangwon’s pristine area, is also used to produce “Cheoeum-Cheoreom,” the soju brand made by Lotte Liquor.

Even while supplying water, fire authorities are maintaining readiness for other emergencies, setting up mobile reservoirs at fire stations and preparing for potential wildfires. “We will commit every available resource to ease the hardships of Gangneung residents while ensuring we remain ready to respond to any disaster,” said Kim Seung-ryong, chief of the Gangwon Fire Headquarters.
