SEOUL, Sept. 18 (Korea Bizwire) — A new “butterfly garden” is coming to Mt. Buramsan in Seoul, allowing visitors to observe butterflies all year round.
The local government of Nowon-gu made the announcement regarding the garden, scheduled to open its doors today, which is part of the ongoing Buramsan Healing Complex project.
The office of Nowon-gu is planning to invest 7.4 billion won to create facilities that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The butterfly garden is Seoul’s first experience center housing insects and butterflies indoors.
Inside the greenhouse garden, visitors can observe various stages of a butterfly’s growth as it metamorphoses from a pupa to a full-grown butterfly.
More than 700 butterflies belonging to over 10 species have been released in the transparent glasshouse.
In order to create a natural environment that closely resembles the outdoors within the compound, 50 types of plants including silver magnolias and sweet olives have been planted indoors.
A trail has been created outside the garden to allow visitors to enjoy themselves outside of the greenhouse garden.
Other facilities aimed at reducing stress and raising self-esteem for visitors is under construction with the goal of opening in June of next year.
