SEOUL, April 16 (Korea Bizwire) – The flagship animal species most popular among South Koreans is a flying squirrel found in Songnisan (Mount Songni) National Park.
A flagship species refers to a wild animal that represents the ecosystem, geography, and culture of a certain area.
The Korea National Park Service conducted a survey of 1,096 people who visited a local national park, which revealed that flying squirrels were the most popular wild animal, followed by Asiatic black bears and otters.
As for plants, respondents favored the Korean red pine, followed by Geumgang bluebell and Korean fir.
