SEOUL, Apr. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — A Cameroonian English teacher who faked his university diploma will be expelled from Korea, according to the Ministry of Justice Incheon Airport Immigration Office.
The man in his twenties entered Korea in March 2013 as a Korean language student. He then faked a BA diploma from a prominent Canadian university to work as an English teacher.
He taught English at summer camps, kindergartens and private institutions in Yongin last year.
The man is also charged with faking an alien registration certificate and a university diploma for a Cameroonian woman in her twenties last July.
The woman was studying in Korea, and had the certificates faked so that she could work as an American native English teacher.
The immigration office said that similar forgeries could be common, as summer camp organizers in Korea are often lax in checking the identities of teacher candidates.
