SEOUL, June 2 (Korea Bizwire)The Ministry of Justice announced Monday that foreign spouses of South Korean citizens who entered the country on short-term visas may be temporarily allowed to change to F-6 visas for marriage immigrants.

The new measure comes as entry restrictions imposed following the coronavirus outbreak have made it difficult for foreign partners to re-enter the country.

Normally, foreign spouses entering South Korea on a short-term visa are not allowed to change to F-6 unless it is strictly necessary.

The new measure applies to all foreigners married to a South Korean citizen prior to entering South Korea, or those who have entered the country on a short-term visa before April 12 and got married in the country for more than 90 days.

Eligible candidates should fulfill all requirements needed to apply for a marriage immigration visa as well as those provided by the immigration law.
