ULJIN, June 5 (Korea Bizwire) — The first forest trail connecting the East and West of the Korean peninsula, from North Gyeongsang Province to Chungcheong Province, has partially opened.
On Thursday, the Korea Forest Service held an opening ceremony for the East-West Trail in Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province.
This trail will be South Korea’s initial forest trail to span the peninsula, covering 849 kilometers from Uljin County to Taean County, South Chungcheong Province. Its completion is expected in 2026.
The trail will be divided into 55 15-kilometer courses, encompassing plains, hills, and mountain trails.
A total of 90 towns will be designated as rest stops for trekkers, along with 43 campgrounds.
