SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – After a serious egg contamination scandal that shook the confidence of South Korea consumers, gift sets of free-range eggs from animal-friendly farms have appeared at department stores, marking the first time eggs are being considered as a Chuseok gift.

Lotte Department Store, one of the country’s major department store chains, announced on Wednesday at its main branch in Myeong-dong that it was releasing Chuseok gift sets consisting of ethical egg products grown on animal-friendly farms, a move considered to be in direct response to the recent egg contamination scandal.

The egg products unveiled on Wednesday were part of a collaboration with South Korean egg producer Fourfree, with the eggs supplied from an animal-friendly farm located in Boseong County in South Jeolla Province.

Consisting of three packs of 10 eggs, the set is priced at 25,500 won.
