SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Thursday that the number of people who used the free suit rental service for job seekers reached a record high last year.
Used by 4,032 people in 2016 when it was first introduced, the rental service was used by 39,547 people last year, up nearly tenfold in five years.
The free suit rental service is open to all Seoul residents who are high school graduates or below the age of 39. People can borrow suits, ties, belts and shoes needed for job interviews for four days, up to 10 times per year.
A survey by job information portals Job Korea and Albamon showed that job seekers are expected to spend an average of 480,000 won (US$400) for interview preparations, most of which is spent on buying a suit.
