SEOUL, March 18 (Korea Bizwire)Buddhist monks are offering free temple stays for medical staff and public servants working in the health sector to help them find ease after the troubles they have gone through fighting the coronavirus.

The Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhism (CCKB), an affiliate of the Jogye Order, announced Tuesday that it is offering a special temple stay program for those fighting on the frontlines against COVID-19.

The program will invite 2,000 medical staff and health officials from March 21 to October 31.

The temple stay program will be held at 10 locations chosen from 137 temples nationwide specifically for their outstanding natural landscape and peaceful environment.

Temples will offer a four-day program for each participant to help ease stress both physically and psychologically. A special gift will be given to all participants for consolation and encouragement.

The program is free for all health officials. Find booking information at www.templestay.com.

“The prolonging pandemic situation is causing massive fatigue among medical staff and health officials who have been wasting not even a single second fighting the coronavirus,” said Ven. Wonkyung, head of the CCKB.

“We’ve decided to offer the program since we desperately felt the need to offer them space for healing and regaining peace of mind.”

The CCKB is considering extensions to the program if the coronavirus outbreak drags on.
